About Us
We are a non-profitable US-based organization providing support to children all around Africa.

Our Mission
Somali Youth Resilience (SYR) is a politically independent organization based in Oslo, Norway. Our mission is to empower Somali youth—both in Norway and Somalia—through programs that promote mental health, education, mentoring, and community safety.
We believe that young people are not just the future, but the experts of their own lives today. That’s why we support their voices, their rights, and their potential.

Our Vision
A world where Somali youth are safe, heard, and supported—where they grow into confident leaders and role models for generations to come.
For Youth, By Youth
SYR is dedicated to supporting Somali children and youth aged 10 to 23. We take youth participation seriously—empowering young people to shape our programs and speak up for their rights.
Why Choose SYR?
Many youth-focused programs fail to listen to the very people they aim to serve. At SYR, we create platforms where youth voices guide our priorities—from mentoring and coaching to mental health and leadership development.
Key Principles
Children and youth deserve strong social and legal protections
Every young person has the right to safety, dignity, and opportunity—regardless of where they live or their background.
Violations of youth rights must be documented and address
We actively report and challenge abuse, neglect, and systemic failures to ensure accountability and justice for Somali youth.
Participation isn’t symbolic—it’s foundational
We don’t just listen to youth—we include them in every decision, making sure their voices shape our work at every level.
Our Values in Action
- Participation: Youth are involved in shaping every aspect of our work
- Partnership: We collaborate with families, institutions, and communities
- Prevention: Our programs reduce risk factors like crime, violence, and addiction
- Inclusion: We create safe spaces for all voices, regardless of background or status
