Gata Team is a collaborative project between Somali Youth Resilience and Mamo Ugaaso Foundation

The pilot project was carried out in central Mogadishu, focusing on outreach work among youth who are at risk of violence, crime, and substance abuse. The team distributed food and drinks to the young people present in the area.

During the implementation, open use of drugs was observed, and several of the youths were visibly intoxicated. The observations indicate a significant need for increased presence of safe, responsible adults and civilian actors who can offer support, guidance, and preventive follow-up.

The experiences from the pilot project confirm the necessity of continued outreach work, and the Gata Team sees a clear need to continue and strengthen this initiative in the future.
